A space for all to enjoy poetry

Equality & Diversity Statement

The Gloucestershire Poetry Society is an all-inclusive, volunteer run, group for lovers of poetry to share and learn in a welcoming and supportive environment. As such we do not tolerate racism, discrimination, destructive behaviour, bullying or hate speech.

As a society, we encourage people from all ethnicities, gender types, beliefs and backgrounds to share in our love of poetry, in all its written and performance forms. We are looking at ways to be more inclusive in our Facebook community and at our online events and workshops.

Since the BLM protests shook the world, we have sought to create more inclusivity in our Crafty Crows open mic events, by inviting and booking feature and guest poets from diverse cultural communities to perform, for a more balanced and equal programme.

We acknowledge that we must strive to be better, to create a richly diverse and encouraging space for poets to share, learn and perform. As such, we warmly welcome input and suggestions on how we can improve the inclusivity of the society, for the benefit of our members and supporters. If you have any ideas on improving this, we would love to hear from you.
